Movement Therapy

October 3 @ 10:45 - 23:45

Movement therapy

Breathwork, Experiential Anatomy, Developmental Movement Therapy

The lesson will give you the opportunity to move out of the thinking mind and wave you back in to the realm of direct experience of bodily sensations, feelings and expressive movement.

Learn to slow down and listen the body stories with its beauty and its chaos, stored in muscle, bones and nerves, ready to be felt and transformed.

We are going to use the animal and human developmental movement patterns as a framework to explore movement coordination, initiation, sequencing and organization, to know where we can find support or where we are ready to let go. This class will help you to balance the nervous system, suitable for people experiencing chronic pain, and stress related injuries, or people wanting to get deeper in to an embodied expression.

How Movement Therapy Can Help

The mind-body connection is made through movement. Movement therapy emphasizes awareness of internal sensations, and it is beneficial in alleviating contemporary conditions such as anxiety, self-doubt, the feeling of not belonging, inadequacy, and the lack of self-love. These emotional distress conditions, expressed throughout the body can then cause physical conditions such as palpations, panic attacks, digestive issues, fibromyalgia and many inflammatory and respiratory diseases.

Since movement is related to thoughts, perception and feelings, movement therapy can bring changes in attitude, emotions and ways to relate with self and others. This approach emphasizes attention to inner sensations using movement to express deep emotional issues, encouraging free and spontaneous movement.

By being aware the way you move the experience will be one of incredible self-discovery. Former participants of this group therapy have reported an increase in self-esteem, self-image, leading to emotional openness and creativity as well as improvement in muscle tone, and coordination.

Movement happens in the present as present moment event and being aware of movement is a powerful way to stop the inner dialogue of the mind and create a balanced nervous system. A body knows and feels the present moment as it happens.
