What is a Cacao Ceremony?

A Cacao Ceremony is a subtle way of working with consciousness, they are actually a type of shamanic healing. Cacao ceremonies have their roots in helping to rebalance the energies within us and restore good health.

The way I deliver a Cacao Ceremony is through the invitation to experience the wisdom of the Mexica-Maya oral tradition which is the path of the Toltec warrior through somatic movement journeys, enabling you to feel the myths and culture of our ancestors

After ingesting the Sacred Cacao beverage, we invite the spirit of Ix Kakaw (the generating force of Cacao crops), to come to us and clarify our heart intentions, she is a sensuous spirit that helps us to feel what is under our skin, it helps us mobilises what is impeding our hearts to feel and relate with our life purpose. We ask Ix Kakaw to come to open our hearts and help us to enter through the World Tree, towards ether the Heart of Mother Earth or ascend to the Cosmic energy field to find guidance and medicine.

Part of the ceremony is to remember the ancient Mesoamerican Myths, which is where it lies the richness of the Indigene cultures preserved now a days through the Grand Mothers and Grand Fathers that still speak Nahuatl and Yucateco Maya by embodying the shamanic journey through somatic movements, so the teachings get to be awakened at a cellular level.

Cacao has been used in ancient ceremonies by civilizations such as the Mayans, Toltecs, Aztecs and Mexica, they considered it a divine food and developed many of their rituals around this plant

What is a Women’s Circle?

A women’s circle is a place to seek refuge from the day-to-day activities in an environment with same-minded people, in this case, women, seeking to share experiences that are just mundane but they contain the secrets of our wisdom. In ancient times women shared their stories in an attempt to seek knowledge from the experiences of other women as well as to find advice in the stories of others to find support in each and to seek validation and recognition in a world where serving, caring and tending our families as a woman is not considered a sacred job.

Who am I

I am Marcela Enriquez Wakeham, a somatic movement practitioner.

I have been blessed to learn this way of working with Cacao Ceremonies through my blood tradition in the cold towns of the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico.

I have the honour to study with Maru Bibian Albor, she taught me the ways of the Maya tradition and make me remember the sacredness of this practices though her undivided love for the cacao plant and the Cacaotales she visits in Tabasco Chiapas, Mexico where her teacher lives and tends his own Cacaotal. Maru pass me the memory of the traditional cacao ceremonies and helped me remember how to communicate with each other when we want to speak our truth.

I have had the honour to follow the wisdom of the Mexica oral tradition through my teacher Teotecpatl Santin-Martinez, I found in his talks an incredible aliveness of our Sacred Traditions.
